Pay with Bitcoin: The Most Private Way to Buy eSIMs

Credit cards link every purchase to your identity. Bitcoin doesn't. At PikaSim, we accept Bitcoin payments so you can buy mobile data without creating a financial trail. Here's why Bitcoin matters for privacy and exactly how to use it.

Why Pay with Bitcoin?

Every credit card transaction creates a permanent record linking you to your purchase. Bitcoin offers a different model:

No Bank Involvement

Your bank doesn't see PikaSim on your statement. No financial institution tracks your eSIM purchases.

No Credit Card Company Data

Visa, Mastercard, and payment processors won't have records of your connectivity purchases.

Pseudonymous Transactions

Bitcoin addresses aren't tied to your real identity. Combined with our no-account policy, your purchase stays private.

No Chargebacks or Freezes

Bitcoin transactions are final. No bank can reverse or freeze your payment after the fact.

Global & Borderless

Works the same whether you're in Tokyo, Berlin, or São Paulo. No currency conversion fees or international restrictions.

How Bitcoin Payments Work at PikaSim

We use BTCPay Server, an open-source, self-hosted payment processor. Here's exactly what happens:

Step 1

Choose Your eSIM Package

Browse our 170+ country packages and select the data plan you need. No account or login required.

Step 2

Select "Pay with Crypto"

At checkout, click the Bitcoin/crypto payment option. You'll be redirected to our secure BTCPay invoice page.

Step 3

Send Bitcoin to the Invoice Address

You'll see a unique Bitcoin address and QR code. Send the exact amount from your wallet. The invoice shows the BTC amount and a countdown timer (typically 15 minutes).

Step 4

Wait for Confirmation

Once your transaction is broadcast, the invoice shows "Paid." After 1 blockchain confirmation (about 10 minutes), your eSIM is provisioned automatically.

Step 5

Receive Your eSIM

Your eSIM QR code and activation instructions appear on the invoice page. If you provided an email, you'll also receive a backup copy there.

💡 Pro Tip: For faster payments with lower fees, consider using Lightning Network instead. Lightning transactions confirm instantly and cost a fraction of a cent.

New to Bitcoin? Here's How to Get Started

If you've never used Bitcoin before, here's a simple guide to buying your first eSIM with crypto:

Option 1: Bitcoin ATM

Most Private. Find a Bitcoin ATM near you using CoinATMRadar. Many ATMs allow purchases under $250-500 without ID. Insert cash, scan your wallet QR code, receive Bitcoin.

Option 2: Exchange (Coinbase, Kraken)

Easiest for beginners. Create an account on Coinbase, Kraken, or Cash App. Buy Bitcoin with your bank account or debit card, then withdraw to your own wallet.

Option 3: Peer-to-Peer (Bisq, HodlHodl)

No KYC required. Trade directly with other people using platforms like Bisq or HodlHodl. Pay with cash, bank transfer, or gift cards.

Option 4: Receive from a Friend

Zero friction. If you know someone with Bitcoin, they can send you any amount instantly. Just share your wallet address or QR code.

Recommended Wallets

You'll need a Bitcoin wallet to store and send your coins. Here are solid options:

  • Mobile: BlueWallet (iOS/Android) - Free, open-source, supports Lightning
  • Mobile: Muun (iOS/Android) - Beginner-friendly, automatic Lightning
  • Desktop: Sparrow Wallet - Advanced features, full privacy controls
  • Hardware: Ledger or Trezor - Best for larger amounts

Bitcoin On-Chain vs. Lightning Network

PikaSim accepts both regular Bitcoin (on-chain) and Lightning payments. Here's the difference:

Feature Bitcoin (On-Chain) Lightning Network
Confirmation Time ~10-60 minutes Instant (seconds)
Transaction Fee $0.50 - $5.00+ < $0.01
Best For Large purchases, savings Daily purchases like eSIMs
Privacy Level Good (public blockchain) Better (off-chain)
Wallet Complexity Simple Slightly more setup

Bitcoin Payment FAQ

What if I send the wrong amount?

If you underpay, you can send the remaining amount to the same address. If you overpay, the extra is applied as a tip. For significant overpayments, contact support.

What if the invoice expires?

Invoices typically last 15 minutes. If it expires before you pay, you'll need to create a new order. If you already sent funds to an expired invoice, contact us with the transaction ID.

Can I get a refund in Bitcoin?

Yes. If you're eligible for a refund, we can send Bitcoin back to an address you provide. Refunds are processed manually within 24-48 hours.

Is my payment truly anonymous?

Bitcoin is pseudonymous, not fully anonymous. Your transaction is visible on the public blockchain, but it's not linked to your identity unless your wallet is. For maximum privacy, use a fresh wallet address.

Do you accept other cryptocurrencies?

Currently we accept Bitcoin (on-chain and Lightning). We may add other cryptocurrencies in the future based on demand.

Why use BTCPay Server?

BTCPay is open-source and self-hosted, meaning we run our own payment server. No third-party payment processor sees your transaction - just you and us.
